Michael J. Barber, MD has served on the CareGuide Board of Directors since December 2006. In July 2006, Dr. Barber founded The Advanced Practice Institute which is a health care consulting company specializing in the implementation of technology and advanced practice techniques in medical practice. From 2003 to 2006, Dr. Barber was the COO and CEO of Group Health Associates, the largest physician group practice in Cincinnati. Dr. Barber began his career as an Officer in the National Health Services Corps from 1974 to 1976 and went on to become a family physician. Dr. Barber was also an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Cincinnati and held consultant and Medical Director positions in the managed care arena before joining ChoiceCare in Cincinnati, Ohio where he started out as VP of Clinical Services and Senior Medical Director and was promoted to EVP and Chief Medical Officer. In that role, Dr. Barber began working with The Haelan Group (now a wholly owned subsidiary of CareGuide) on testing its original predictive survey in 1996. Dr. Barber continued his relationship with Haelan when he became CEO of Momentum Health Solutions in 1998 and in 1999 he joined the Haelan team serving as partner, CEO and VP of Corporate Development. Dr. Barber received his MD from the Indiana University School of Medicine and performed his Family Practice Residency at the Methodist Hospital of Indiana. |
