Michael H. Gersie is executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Principal Financial Group. Gersie oversees accounting and controllership for the company, as well as treasury and cash management, corporate finance, actuarial, corporate tax, internal audit, capital market access, merger and acquisition activity, information technology and corporate services.
Gersie joined the company in 1970 as an actuarial student. He was promoted to actuarial associate in 1974, was elected an officer and named assistant actuary in 1975, associate actuary in 1979 and actuary in 1984. He was then named second vice president and actuary in 1986, vice president in 1990, senior vice president and chief information officer in 1994, senior vice president and chief financial officer in 1996, and executive vice president and chief financial officer in 2000.
Gersie is a Fellow of both the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society, and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and Enrolled Actuary. Gersie is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). |
