Michael Goldberg is a trial attorney who concentrates his practice on civil litigation, handling a wide range of matters with emphasis on complex commercial disputes and intellectual property litigation. Currently, Michael represents numerous companies in the entertainment industry and designers and manufacturers in the fashion/apparel business.
On behalf of his apparel industry clients, Michael has commenced numerous suits under the Lanham Act to enforce the trademark rights of branded apparel companies. He has also represented a significant number of clients in connection with copyright infringement and trade dress claims; litigated numerous disputes between licensors and licensees; and handled all form and manner of quality and timeliness issues related to the sale and delivery of merchandise.
In connection with his work in the entertainment industry, Michael has prosecuted actions on behalf of a major film studio to enforce its exclusive rights in its valuable movie properties. He has also defended the studio in several actions, including against claims of a violation of a party’s right of privacy and publicity.
Michael has extensive experience representing record labels and recording artists in numerous actions including disputes over the signing of artists by labels; royalty disputes; negligence and negligent hiring and supervision claims brought against artists; and claims stemming from the failure of recording artists to perform at scheduled appearances.
Michael has also handled corporate and commercial litigations for numerous companies in many diverse fields. Those litigations have involved shareholder disputes; disputes with investors; unfair competition and theft of trade secrets claims; contractual disputes with suppliers and agents; defamation claims; and discrimination and other claims asserted by employees.
Michael has performed pro bono work on behalf of families affiliated with the Children’s Hearing Institute, representing the interests of hearing-impaired children to ensure that they receive appropriate accommodations from local school boards.
