Michael joined the Casualty Department in 2005 focusing his practice on automotive liability, appellate, products liability, commercial litigation, director liability, insurance coverage litigation, insurance fraud, and employment litigation. His significant experience in these areas has positioned him to represent the second largest construction rental equipment company in the United States with respect to alleged defects in aerial lifts, fork lifts, and other construction equipment. Michael has also handled over 100 personal injury matters in his career.
Michael graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a concentration in financial services. He then attended law school and received his Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida. While in law school, Michael served for two years as president of the Student Bar Association and received a full scholarship as a result of that service. Michael is admitted to practice in the state of Florida and is a member of The Florida Bar.
In March 2006 and 2008, Michael Orr was elected by his peers in the legal community to the Florida Bar Board of Governors, Young Lawyers Division. Michael represents the 4th Judicial Circuit on the statewide board, including Clay, Duval, and Nassau Counties.
Michael is very involved in the Jacksonville community. He serves on the Executive Director's Management Team in support of the Special Olympics of Duval County. In that role, Michael has been active in participating as an event coordinator in the Duval County Special Olympics, Summer Games. He also serves as president of the Board of Directors for the Family Nurturing Center of Florida, Inc. The Family Nurturing Center was the brainchild of the Honorable Judge Dorothy Pate. The Center commits itself to improving the lives of families throughout northeast Florida through operating parenting programs and supervised visitations upon any presence of spousal or child abuse. |
