Mike Devine joined Coach as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in December 2001, bringing over 20 years of executive financial and operational experience to the position. During Mr. Devine’s tenure, Coach’s operating results have been remarkably strong, with operating income rising more than 700%, while margins have expanded dramatically, from approximately 15% in calendar 2001 to an operating margin of above 36% in fiscal 2006.
Prior to joining Coach, Mr. Devine previously served from 2000 to 2001, as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Mothers Work, Inc., a $450 million publicly-held company and the world’s largest designer, manufacturer and retailer of maternity apparel. At Mothers Work he was responsible for all financial, human resources, legal, physical distribution and worldwide logistics activities. He is credited with streamlining operations by improving control/reporting methodologies and contributing to a significant expansion in gross margin. Mr. Devine also successfully orchestrated the acquisition and integration of the number two player in the maternity apparel industry.
Prior to that time, Mr. Devine served as Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Secretary of Strategic Distribution, Inc. from 1997 to 2000, having been promoted after two years as Chief Financial Officer of SDI’s primary subsidiary, Industrial Systems Associates.
Mr. Devine previously held Director of Operations and Director of Finance positions at McMaster-Carr Supply Company from 1989 to 1995 and progressively senior finance positions at Honeywell, Inc. from 1980 to 1989.
Mr. Devine holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance & Marketing from Boston College and an MBA from The Wharton School. |
