Michael Merlie represents institutional, corporate, and entrepreneurial clients in a wide variety of transactional matters. His experience includes negotiating and documenting mergers, acquisitions, and real estate transactions. Mr. Merlie also assists entrepreneurs in all phases of start-up organizations. He represents institutional lenders in negotiating and documenting financing transactions and has a particular expertise in maritime financing.
He also is experienced in commercial litigation and bankruptcy matters with reported decisions in both the District Court and the Bankruptcy Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Merlie was a certified public accountant with a Big Five accounting firm in Philadelphia.
Mr. Merlie graduated from Villanova University and the Villanova University School of Law where he was a member of the Villanova Law Review.
Mr. Merlie is a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Chester County Bar Association, and The Maritime Law Association of the United States.
Mr. Merlie also actively volunteers his time with local organizations. He is a member of the Board of Trustees and Treasurer of the Mill at Anselma Preservation and Education Trust, Inc. Mr. Merlie also serves on the advisory boards for both Continental Bank and Archbishop John Carroll High School. |
