Dr. Michael F. Lembeck is the Northrop Grumman Corporate Lead Executive in the Houston region coordinating Northrop Grumman’s support of NASA. In this role, Lembeck represents all Northrop Grumman sectors and serves as a single point of contact to this key customer. Lembeck will also be responsible for the company’s cross-sector business development initiatives and its community relations activities in this region.
Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, Lembeck served as the Requirements Division Director for the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate at NASA headquarters and participated in the development of the nation’s Vision for Space Exploration. He is the recipient of the 2005 NASA Exceptional Engineering Achievement Award for his role in defining requirements for the Crew Exploration Vehicle.
Before joining NASA, Lembeck was the Vice President for Remote Sensing programs at Orbital Sciences Corp. He was also chief engineer for a primary free-flying space shuttle STS-80 payload at Space Industries, Inc., where he also served as manager of Engineering.
Earlier, Lembeck worked at TRW in the Defense Systems Group’s Systems Effectiveness Section and at the Jet Propulsion Lab in the Attitude Control Integration and Test Group, both in southern California.
Lembeck attended the University of Illinois where he received his bachelor’s, masters and doctorate in Aero/Astronautical Engineering. He is a member of the University of Illinois Aerospace Engineering Department Alumni Advisory Board, and has been elected to the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership board of directors.
