Michael has broad consulting expertise including strategic sourcing, profitability, operations, and organizational effectiveness for higher education, research/engineering, and corporations.

Prior to joining Huron, Michael was a Senior Manager, as well as an HR Director, at A.T. Kearney. He has also been a geotechnical consultant, principal investigator, and helped lead international scientific research teams.

Professional Experience

Representative examples of Michael's engagement experience include:

Higher Education

Helped lead the development of cost reduction methodologies for Food Services and Construction spend at universities and research institutions.

Led supplier spend diagnostics at a Midwest university medical center, a major East Coast technical university, and two East Coast engineering firms.

Managed the strategic sourcing for a new building at a Midwest university. Integrated the various constituencies into one team, and achieved over 40% savings in two distinct categories.

Managed the design and implementation of an integrated process for the selection and planning of exhibits for a premier natural history museum which has a significant research and academic mission.

Research/Engineering

Evaluated hazardous and low-level radwaste industries and helped develop a pre-acquisition plan for the largest U.S. waste management company.

Co-directed Poços de Caldas International Project, a $20 million radwaste study in Brazil.

Planned and directed the Office of Waste Technology Development $25 million geochemical research program.

Corporate

Led a 12-member team to strategically source over 40 direct commodities ($625 million spend) for a $3 billion U.S. division of the world's third largest automotive company.

Helped lead the North America effort of international profitability strategy study targeting $20 million savings for a major global automotive aftermarket manufacturer.

Led the strategic sourcing of geophysical services for the merger integration of the second largest U.S. energy company, achieving over $11 million in immediate savings and an additional $15 million in annualized savings.
