Michael E. Wilens is executive vice president & chief technology officer for The Thomson Corporation. In this role, he is responsible for growth strategies, particularly as they relate to new technologies; corporate-level projects leveraging Thomson’s scale and knowledge; and managing ongoing corporate technology functions including security, privacy, the CTO council, networks, data centers, contact centers, and business systems. In his role as chief technology officer, Mr. Wilens serves on the Corporation’s executive committee and reports directly to Thomson president and CEO, Dick Harrington.
Prior to this role, Mr. Wilens was president and CEO of Thomson Legal & Regulatory’s North American Legal organization from 2000-2006, which includes Thomson West, Elite and FindLaw. During his tenure, Thomson expanded into software, marketing services and legal education, and launched its first major integrated solution offerings including Westlaw Litigator.
Preceding these assignments, Mr. Wilens was chief technology officer for The Thomson Corporation and Thomson West, and was responsible for the development of the Novus Suite, one of Thomson's global technology platforms. Mr. Wilens has also held senior management positions with Groupe Lagardère, Lawyers Cooperative Publishing and HCIA.
Mr. Wilens holds an M.B.A. and an M.S. in computer science from the University of Michigan, and an S.B. and S.M. in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |
