Mr. Rubenstein practices in the areas of business litigation, bankruptcy and criminal law. In business litigation cases, he has acted as lead counsel for clients in many industries, including energy, banking and steel.Mr. Rubenstein is certified in business bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification. He devotes the majority of his bankruptcy practice to the representation of creditors in complex reorganizations. He has also represented debtors, creditors’ committees and Chapter 7 trustees. His experience includes successful representation of the taxpayer in challenging the constitutionality of the assessment of ad valorem taxes. Willis-Knighton Medical Ctr. v. Edmiston, 889 So. 2d 736 (La. Ct. App. 2d Cir.), writ denied, 917 So. 2d 1105 (La. 2005).Mr. Rubenstein’s criminal law practice encompasses every step in the representation of those targeted for prosecution by federal and state authorities, from pre-indictment negotiations through trial. In addition, he has substantial experience coordinating responses to grand jury subpoenas and has conducted numerous internal investigations to assist clients in responding to charges leveled by state and federal authorities. In energy litigation matters, Mr. Rubenstein has handled exploration and production disputes and oil well lien litigation.He has been a long-standing member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. This is the same court where he served as law clerk to the Honorable Edith Brown Clement from 1993 to 1995. He has served on the board of directors of the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. |
