Michael D. Miller is president and chief operating officer of Scottsdale Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Nationwide that provides excess and surplus property and casualty insurance. He was elected to this position in 2005.
Miller has worked in insurance for more than 27 years, including 19 years at Nationwide.
He previously served as Scottsdale’s executive vice president for operations and administration. He joined Scottsdale in 1995 as vice president for finance and treasurer. He also spent three years as senior vice president of finance, serving Nationwide’s property and casualty companies.
Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting & business administration from Defiance College and an MBA from Indiana University.
Nationwide, with $158 billion in assets, provides a full range of insurance and financial services, including auto, homeowners, life, health, and commercial insurance; annuities, mutual funds, retirement plans and administrative services. The Nationwide companies include the country’s sixth-largest property/casualty group. Nationwide Life Insurance Company, the major subsidiary of Nationwide Financial, ranks 13th in assets, according to A.M. Best.
