Michael D. McIntosh, Director of Intellectual Property Strategy - Technology Management Advisors, LLC (TMA) is a firm specializing in the business and strategy of patents and intellectual property, founded by Michael D. McIntosh and Patti A. Pickell to address this critical but often overlooked requirement of businesses that strive to derive significant value from proprietary assets. Before forming TMA in 1993, Mr. McIntosh and Ms. Pickell were with the intellectual property law firm of Sheridan, Ross & McIntosh. Mr. McIntosh joined the firm as a patent attorney in 1972, and in 1978 became the principal owner and managing director. Mr. McIntosh spent years personally performing virtually all aspects of patent and intellectual property legal work in the U.S. and abroad, including patent preparation and prosecution, patent litigation and all facets of intellectual property transactions. Ms. Pickell joined the firm in 1978, and throughout her career held a number of management positions, including serving as director of the firm’s administration, marketing and international patent practice. Under their guidance the firm grew from a local four member firm to an internationally recognized intellectual property firm with over seventy full-time personnel. They then formed TMA to both consult with and become principals of selected technology-based ventures. The principals of TMA developed this expertise through years of legal and business development activities. Representative legal and consulting clients included Adolph Coors Corporation and its numerous technology spinouts, including Coors Ceramics, Coors Biotech, Golden Aluminum, Golden Technologies, Chronopol and Coors Biomedical. TMA founded technology-based start-ups Superior MicroPowders, Peak Sensor Systems and Memx, Inc., and developed the intellectual property strategies and business direction and infrastructure for each of these successful ventures. TMA continues to work with these companies, and holds ownership positions in each |
