Mike's 35 years of business, legal and transaction experience includes positions with highly recognized public and private companies. Prior to joining Challenger, Mike was founder and chief executive officer of Scottish Re Group Ltd. (NYSE:SCT) from its IPO in 1998 to 2004, and he was chairman of the board until 2006. Scottish Re Group grew from a startup in 1998 to the third largest life reinsurer in North America, with offices in the United States, Bermuda, United Kingdom, Ireland, Dubai, Singapore, Tokyo and Grand Cayman, with assets of more than $14 billion and revenues of over $2 billion. From 1993 to 2000, Mike was founder, managing director and limited partner of Maverick Capital Ltd., a hedge fund with more than $7 billion under management when he sold his interests in 2000. Prior to 1993, Mike practiced law in Dallas with Jackson & Walker LLP, concentrating in corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions. He served as managing partner of the firm from 1988 to 1992. Mike has degrees from Baylor University and Baylor University Law School, and has served as a director of numerous public and private companies, including Sterling Software and Michaels Stores. |
