Mike Cahill is executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of City National Bank and City National Corporation. He oversees the bank’s Legal and Compliance Division activities, and is executive sponsor and chair of the bank’s Compliance Committee. He also is a member of the bank's Executive Committee, Disclosure Committee, Risk Council, Benefits Committee, Senior Operations Risk Committee and Executive Loan Committee, among others.
Mr. Cahill joined City National in June 2001 and has broad experience in legal management, banking, operations, mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, risk management, capital formation and strategic planning, among other areas. From 1997 through 2001, he served as president and CEO of various subsidiaries of Avista Corporation and Washington Water & Power, located in Washington state.
Before that, Mr. Cahill worked at First Interstate Bancorp and its affiliates for 13 years, where, among other duties, he served as executive vice president and group general counsel responsible for various international, capital markets, merger, acquisition and divesture activities, as well as company-wide litigation, bankruptcy and problem-loan legal services. He also served as executive vice president, general counsel and chief administrative officer for First Interstate Bank of Texas in Houston, and previously spent four years in private law practice in Los Angeles.
Mr. Cahill is a member of the California and Washington state bar associations, and is active in supporting fundraising for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, for which he serves as a board member of the Los Angeles chapter. He also serves on the board of directors of the California Bankers Association. Mr. Cahill is a frequent speaker at seminars on the subjects of banking, securities laws, corporate governance and related topics. |
