Nobel laureate A. Michael Spence chairs the Commission on Growth and Development, sits on the board of directors at General Mills, and is a partner in Oak Hill Capital Partners. Now a professor emeritus of management of the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, Mr. Spence served as dean of the Stanford Business School from 1990 to 1999. He also served as the dean of the faculty of arts and sciences at Harvard, overseeing the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the division of continuing education. Mr. Spence has published three books and more than 50 articles in professional journals. Having earned a BA summa cum laude in philosophy at Princeton, he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship and went on to earn a BS/MA from Oxford and a Ph.D. in economics at Harvard. |
