Mike is a 1972 graduate of Purdue University and holds a bachelor's degree in agriculture economics. Since 1973, he's been the owner and manager of Shuter Sunset Farms, Inc., which consists of 3,000 acres corn and soybeans, 8,000 head wean to finish hog operation, and 35 head beef cow herd. He has been a pioneer in utilizing GPS and variable rate technology in crop production. He currently is the secretary for the Indiana Corn Marketing Council, and serves on the board of the Indiana Livestock Alliance. In the past, he has served the Frankton First United Methodist Church Board as chairman for 7-years, was president of Indiana Corn Growers for 6-years, served on the Government Relations Committee and the Customer & Business Development Committee for the National Corn Growers Association, and served Eastern Indiana Livestock Breeders Association as president for 2-years and vice-president for 2-years. He and his wife reside in Frankton, Indiana. They have two grown, married sons, which are both involved in the farming operations. |
