Mike Heffron is president of the Electronics & Integrated Solutions Operating Group within BAE Systems. E&IS, with headquarters at Nashua, New Hampshire, is a major defense electronics business with nearly 19,000 employees at more than 50 primary locations in the U.S. and overseas. The group designs, develops and manufactures a wide range of electronic and intelligence systems, and provides integrated solutions for both military and commercial applications.
The E&IS group was formed in June 2005. Previously Heffron was president of the Platform Solutions Line of Business. He had overall responsibility for all programs related to Platform Solutions’ Aerospace Controls, Avionic Systems, Inertial Products, Integrated Solutions, and Power Systems business areas.
Prior to serving as the first Information Warfare (IW) president of the new group, Heffron was president of BAE Systems’ IW Line of business for the Information & Electronic Warfare Systems (IEWS) unit in Nashua, responsible for program performance, engineering process, and training and development for more than 2,800 engineers.
Heffron joined Sanders subsequently purchased by BAE Systems in November 2000 from Martin Marietta Corporation, where he worked at the Corporate Research Center in Baltimore and at the Martin Marietta Aero and Naval Division. At Sanders, he advanced through positions including director of programs, director of program operations, and vice president of engineering.
Heffron was an engineer and program manager for the U.S. Air Force from 1978 to 1986. He received a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Detroit in 1979, and a master’s of science in electrical engineering from Syracuse University in 1985. Mike received the Sanders Albert B. Wight Leadership Award and Lockheed Martin’s Nova Award for Leadership.
E&IS lines of business offer products and integration services including electronic warfare and self-protection systems; surveillance and intelligence systems; platform systems; sensor and precision targeting systems; communication, navigation, identification, and reconnaissance systems; large-scale enterprise solutions and information management systems in support of the defense and intelligence communities, mission-specific software and geospatial exploitation products; advanced information technology; and rapid C4ISR prototyping among many others.
