Dr. Borisy is Director and Chief Executive officer of The Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL), an international center for research, education and training in biology, biomedicine and ecology based in Woods Hole, MA. Prior to the MBL, Dr. Borisy was the Leslie B. Arey Professor of Cell and Molecular Biology at Northwestern University Medical School and a past president of the American Society of Cell Biology. An internationally recognized cell biologist, Dr. Borisy is known for his work on understanding the structure and functioning of living cells and for his important discovery of the protein tubulin. Dr. Borisy was the Chairman of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at the University of Wisconsin, where he remains a professor emeritus. He has authored 200 peer reviewed scientific publications and has served as an advisor on numerous committees. Dr. Borisy received his B.S. in biochemistry and his Ph.D. in biophysics from the University of Chicago. |
