Michael A. Caligiuri, M.D., is Director of the Ohio State University (OSU) Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is a prominent figure in the field of immunology, possessing an extensive understanding of both traditional and novel approaches to cancer therapy, as well as preclinical tumor modeling. Over 1,000 cancer patients have been treated on his immunotherapy clinical trials. Dr. Caligiuri joined the staff at OSU in 1997 and is the John L. Marakas Nationwide Insurance Enterprise Foundation Chair in Cancer Research. He is also Director of the Division of Hematology and Oncology and Cancer Genetics Scholar at the OSU School of Medicine and Public Health. In 2002, he was named a Distinguished University Scholar at OSU for his outstanding academic accomplishments in research and teaching. Dr. Caligiuri received both graduate and medical degrees at Stanford University School of Medicine and trained in internal medicine, oncology, bone marrow transplantation and immunology at Harvard Medical School. He joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School in 1989 and later started a bone marrow transplant and immunotherapy program in oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine.
