Ms. Powell is admitted to practice in the state of Missouri; the U.S. District Court, Western District of Missouri; the U.S. District Court, District of Kansas; and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit.
Professional Activities:
Ms. Powell has over 20 years of litigation experience, including expertise in Workers' Compensation and tax law. Prior to joining Evans & Dixon, Powell was an attorney in private practice in Kansas City and served as assistant attorney general in the Missouri attorney general’s office for nine years.
Ms. Powell’s experience includes expertise in the education/schools, insurance and government sectors. She has handled Workers' Compensation cases involving amputations, assaults and violent acts, back injuries, bruises and contusions, carpal tunnel syndrome, cumulative trauma, cuts and lacerations, falls, fatalities, fractures, head injuries, heart attacks, heat burns, lower extremities, neck injuries, paraplegia and quadriplegia, permanent disability, sprains, strains, breaks, tears, tendonitis and upper extremities.

Interests:
An avid MU fan, Ms. Powell has held several leadership positions with the University of Missouri Alumni Association, including president of the organization, chairman of the long range planning committee, chairman of the rules committee, chairman of the Kansas City chapter scholarship committee, and honorary co-chair of the Tiger Ball. She also serves on the Chancellor’s Strategic Planning Advisory Council for the university. Ms. Powell is a member of the University of Missouri’s Jefferson Club and the Tiger Scholarship Fund.
In addition to her involvement with the University of Missouri, Ms. Powell is a bassoonist and cellist. She has played with both the Jefferson City Symphony and the Olathe Community Orchestra. Ms. Powell also is a member of the Junior League of Kansas City and a member and volunteer for the Girl Scouts.
In her spare time, Ms. Powell enjoys gourmet cooking, higher education, golf, travel and watching University of Missouri football and basketball. |
