Since 2001, Melissa Cohen has held the position of partner at GTM Architects, a full service, award-winning architecture, planning and interior design firm located in Bethesda, Maryland. In this role, Cohen is responsible for the Avalon Theater Project, Chinatown Phase I and Chinatown Phase II. As the head of the Historic Preservation discipline for GTM, Cohen is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, The Society for preservation Technology and The Maryland Historic Trust. The Avalon Theater, a project Cohen's team worked on to restore the historic theater, recently won two prestigious awards: the Pro Bono Award given by the Washington Architectural Foundation and the Mayor's Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation in Community Involvement category. |
