Hadden is a retired Army Colonel, Infantry/Special Forces. He enlisted in 1962, in the Airborne Infantry, attended Infantry Officer Candidate School, Ranger Course and Operations Specialist Course, Hurlburt Field, Florida, in 1969. He is a graduate of the USAF Air War College, 1985, and the USA War College, 1988. He retired from the Army in February 1993, after serving 31 years in a variety of Infantry and Special Forces assignments to include: two tours with Special Forces in Vietnam; Chief of Plans for Commander Iceland Defense Force, Keflavik, Iceland; Director of Operations, J-3, Operations Urgent Fury, Grenada; Commander of the XVIII Airborne Corps Headquarters Battalion, Fort Brag, NC; Commander of the 4th Brigade, 2nd ROTC Region (Michigan and Tennessee); and his final assignment as Inspector General, U.S. Army Infantry Center and School, Fort Benning, Georgia.
Since his retirement in 1993, he has been employed as Senior Vice President of Economic Development & Military Affairs for the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce. He has been involved in industrial land acquisition, land master planning, industrial recruitment, entrepreneurial business assistance, and Military Affairs. He has completed courses in BRAC and Military Base Reutilization, is a graduate of the Univ. of Oklahoma economic Development Institute, and is certified as an Economic Development Financial Specialist, Nov. 2001. In 1994, he was appointed to serve on the Georgia Governors Military Affairs Coordinating Committee, statewide, and he was selected by the CSA Army to serve four years, 1999-2002, on the CSA Army.
