Influenced by the movie Party Girl, Maya Henderson started going to clubs and raves in Detroit that girls her age had no business attending. Thankfully, by the time she was a freshman in college, she was tired of the seedy underground lifestyle and is now much happier using her club expertise as a reviewer for CenterstageChicago. She also interviews DJs and music promoters (among other things) for TimeOut Chicago, Flavorpill and UR Chicago. When Maya's not loving the nightlife, she can't get enough of the shows Top Chef and Best Week Ever; worships Amy Sedaris and Brazilian stuff; and gets down to old soul, underground hip-hop and electronic music. Maya is also a healthy vegetarian and yoga/gym freak, which she hopes helps make up for her weekend debauchery. Subsequently, she spends too much money on organic groceries than she should, so if you see her out, buy her a gin and tonic and she'll be your best friend. |
