Recognized by Computerworld magazine as one of the top 25 contributors in the field of information systems, and cited by CIO magazine as one of the 12 most influential information services executives of the 1990s, Mr. Hopper has been called the '"father of automation" in the travel industry. Before founding his own firm, Mr. Hopper worked for 20 years with AMR Corporation, an air transportation company and provider of information services to the travel and transportation industries. Mr. Hopper was a key figure in the development of The SABRE Group, a technology services business with revenues currently in excess of $1.5 billion. He also initiated the SABRE Travel Information Unit, the pioneering company providing electronic commerce to the travel industry, which currently has revenues of almost $1 billion with offices in 74 countries worldwide. Previously, Mr. Hopper served as executive vice president and chief information officer for Bank of America, where he led the bank's reengineering efforts in the systems and operations areas. Mr. Hopper began his career with Shell Oil and also worked with EDS and United Airlines. He currently serves on the board of directors of Gartner Group, United Stationers, Exodus Communications, Metrocall Inc., Payless Cashways Inc., USData Corporation, Accrue Software and several other companies, in addition to serving on the board of overseers for the Computer Museum. |
