is graduated in Mechanical Engineering from UFRGS Rio Grande do Sul Federal University in 1982, where he also participated in some business courses. He joined Embraer in 1982 as System Engineer and he worked on the landing gear project of the military aircraft AMX. In 1984 he joined EDE Embraer Equipments Division, a company specialized in landing gear and hydraulic equipments, (today this company calls ELEB Embraer Liebherr Equipamentos do Brasil as joint venture with a Germany company Liebherr), Mauro worked for 11 years in different departments as engineering, marketing, sales and customer support. After four years away from Embraer, he returned in 1999 to coordinate the EMBRAER 170/ 190, he successively executed the position of Program Manager. In April 2004, Mauro Kern was appointed as Director of EMBRAER 170/ 190 Program. In July 2005, Mauro was appointed as Program Director of Commercial Aviation, with responsibilities for the integration of the product development, industrials operation and customer support regarding the EMBRAER 170/ 190 program. In April 2006, Mauro Kern was appointed as Executive Vice President Airline Market.
