Ms. Hodges joined Targacept shortly after it was spun out from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company in August 2000. She is responsible for budgeting and forecasting at the corporate and project levels, as well as managing relationships with banks, attorneys, independent auditors, governmental auditors, and insurance professionals. She is responsible for financial reporting and analysis, corporate taxation, information technology, facilities and maintenance and serves as a member of the R&D committee.
Ms. Hodges has 26 years of experience in the field of finance. Prior to joining Targacept, she served as President of Compensation Consultants, Inc., where she provided leadership and expertise on compensation programs for over 30 international, national and regional businesses. Areas of consultation included redesign of base compensation pay plans, benchmark wage surveys, market analysis for wage competitiveness, pay for performance and incentive plan designs.
From 1995 to 1999, Ms. Hodges worked for Piedmont Associated Industries, a not-for-profit business league, holding positions of increased responsibility including director of administration, director of compensation and chief financial officer. She held financial accountability for a multi-million dollar annual budget and was involved in policy making and establishing procedures for all financial issues as well as operating decisions at the executive level. She was project manager for their corporate training facility expansion project.
Ms. Hodges began her career in 1977 as senior accountant for Deloitte, Haskins & Sells in Roanoke, Virginia and later served as controller for Mid-Atlantic Explosives in Greensboro, N.C. and The Silver System, a software development company also in Greensboro. From 1988 to 1995, she owned and operated her own certified public accounting practice, providing full accounting, auditing, and individual and business tax services for approximately 200 clients. She received a B.S. in business administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and is a certified public accountant in the states of North Carolina and Virginia.
In December, 2002 Ms. Hodges achieved the Certified Compensation Professional designation through World at Work.
Ms. Hodges is a member of the World at Work, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. She is past president of the Triad Compensation Association and is currently the regional coordinator for the Association of Bioscience Financial Officers. |
