Matt has over 10 years of experience providing financial advisory services. He has served in the capacity of an advisor to company management as well as secured and unsecured creditors. Matt's background includes the areas of accounting and financial reporting business plan development and analysis debt restructuring due diligence investigation and Chapter 11 bankruptcy process management. His experience covers a variety of industries including airline food manufacturing leasing leisure real estate retail and telecommunications.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Huron Matt worked in KPMG's Corporate Recovery practice and began his career serving public and private manufacturing clients in the audit practice.
Since July 2005 Matt has served as a financial advisor for Northwest Airlines Corporation providing support to the debtors with regard to bankruptcy accounting and reporting plan of reorganization and disclosure statement development claims management acquisition due diligence and adoption of fresh-start reporting.
Matt has assisted several companies through Chapter 11 and worked with their attorneys in managing the preparation of financial information required for the various stages of bankruptcy including first day orders schedules of assets and liabilities statements of financial affairs and disclosure statements.
Representative examples of Matt's engagement experience include:
Advised a major lender of a relocation business and collateral agent regarding the performance and reporting quality of assets supporting a $200M securitization.
Led the reconciliation process of several billions of dollars in secured and unsecured claims for a major global telecommunications business. Assisted management in creating a process for reconciling and disposing of pre-petition debts in accordance with the restructuring plan and assisted in the accounting and reporting of the claims disposition.
Assisted a timeshare resort developer in the development of its business plan and liquidation analysis various profitability analyses and ultimately the closing of $300M in exit financing.
Served as an advisor to the Unsecured Creditors Committee for a major airline during which he analyzed and provided frequent reporting on cash flow trends and projections debt covenant compliance business plan analysis and cost cutting initiatives. Provided sensitivity analysis projecting unsecured claims dilution under various aircraft lease and labor contract rejection scenarios.
Assisted several companies in developing cash management tools such as the 13-week cash flow model and managed the due diligence process for asset based loans.
