Matthew joined LECG in 2004 and is based in the London office. He has a mix of experience in competition and regulatory economics gained within academic and industry environments. He has advised on a wide range of regulatory and competition matters providing economic advice on major strategic issues and offering economic input across a wide range of casework and projects. Matthew has an advanced understanding of networked industries, in particular the telecoms market having worked for the Chief Economist at Ofcom.
Matthew was educated at University of Warwick and Université de Toulouse, where he earned a Ph.D. in Economics focused on developing competition in regulated utilities. Individual research topics included; overlapping regulatory regimes, auctions, industry structure and competition policy and an analysis of competition on poverty. He has presented papers at both academic and industry conferences. Matthew continues working in economic theory with his most recent research looking at theoretical models of the interaction between competition policy and innovation. |
