Matt is a business and commercial litigator and partner in the firm’s litigation group. He has first chair experience in all aspects of litigation, including discovery, fact and expert witness depositions, trial work, and appellate briefing and argument. He represents clients regularly in both state and federal courts and also has represented clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and other forms of dispute resolution. Matt’s representative experience is extensive and varied and includes, but is not limited to, the following: Defense of products liability and other tort claims asserted against corporations and other businesses, including public utility companies and other publicly traded and privately held companies. Representation of business clients in insurance coverage litigation and other disputes with their insurance carriers involving a variety of issues arising under different types of insurance polices and endorsements, including liability insurance policies, excess and umbrella policies, director and officer liability policies, property insurance policies, and additional insured endorsements. Pursuit of indemnification and/or contribution claims on behalf of companies against whom tort claims or other claims have been asserted. Representation of companies that have sought to recover based on failed business mergers or acquisitions. Prosecution and defense of information technology disputes on behalf of business clients, including disputes relating to software rights and adequacy of software provided. Defense of consumer class actions asserted against business clients based on state and federal consumer protection laws. Representation of business clients in construction law matters, including both construction litigation and counseling relating to construction contract drafting and administration. Defense of civil rights and tort claims that have been asserted against Ohio political subdivisions and their employees. Prosecution and defense of various municipal law disputes involving Ohio political subdivisions and their agencies. |
