After serving in the Army Air Corps in World War II, Matty Ryan returned to Springfield to start his own law firm, concentrating on civil and criminal litigation. He was District Attorney for the Western District, including Hampden and Berkshire Counties, from 1958 to 1990, when he joined Doherty, Wallace in an of counsel capacity to resume private trial practice with his son, Barry Ryan. A member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Matty Ryan was Springfield City Solicitor from 1957 to 1958 and has been involved in a number of local civic activities, including the Springfield Boys Club. He and his wife have five children and live in Springfield. |
