Matt joined our firm in 1991. He represents a variety of entrepreneurial and closely-held businesses. Matt serves as general outside counsel to a number of companies, counseling business owners on financing, succession planning, corporate governance and general business matters.
In his health care practice, Matt concentrates on the representation of health care providers (primarily physicians and dentists) and advises clients with respect to internal governance issues, hospital/physician contracting, Medicare/Medicaid Fraud & Abuse and Stark Law compliance, licensing, and other regulatory matters.

Represented the owners of a NH software company in an asset sale to a large, publicly traded company based in Pennsylvania.
Represented a NH physician group in a joint venture with a non-profit hospital, including analysis and planning concerning the federal Stark anti-referral law and the Medicare and Medicaid fraud & abuse laws.
Working with three other Sheehan Phinney attorneys, represented the majority owner of a computer software company in connection with the sale of his company in a deal worth a total of $15 million.

Honors
The New Hampshire Union Leader newspaper named Matt one of New Hampshire’s 40 Under Forty in 2003. Matt also received a special citation for Exceptional Volunteer Service from the Greater Manchester Chapter of the American Red Cross in 2002.

Matt is admitted to practice in the states of New Hampshire and Florida. He is also a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association and the Florida Bar Association.
Community Involvement
Matt has a long history of community involvement. He is a past President of the Granite State Youth Mentors and served as a volunteer Big Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Manchester for twelve years. Matt is a former Trustee of Trust Funds for the City of Manchester, New Hampshire. Matt is active as a Class Agent for the Williams College Alumni Fund and served as President of the Southern New Hampshire Chapter of the Williams Society of Alumni. |
