Biography
Matt graduated Magna cum Laude from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, in December 1999 with a bachelor's degree in accountancy. He then sat for and passed the Certified Public Accountant Exam in November, 2000. Matt also passed the Certified Valuation Analyst Exam in July, 2001.
In October, 1999, Matt began his professional career with Kemper CPA Group LLP while finishing his last semester of college. He began as a full-time staff accountant in January, 2000 and was promoted to manager in May, 2003.
Matt has over seven years of audit experience, with four coming as an in-charge auditor. He has worked on a variety of audits, which include governmental audits (community colleges, school districts, water districts, villages, and cities), nonprofit audits, and small business audits. The small business audits were mainly in the coal mining area, and have included several DCCA/DCEO grant-specific audits.
Additionally, Matt has over seven years of tax planning and compliance experience. He has prepared income tax returns for individuals, S corporations, C corporations, partnerships, non-profits, estates, and trusts. He also has experience with preparing estate and gift tax returns.
Matt also prepares business valuations for small businesses for several reasons, which include: estate and gift tax returns, establishing a fair selling price, and marital dissolution.
