Matt Ocko has over two decades of experience as a technology entrepreneur, operating executive, and venture capitalist. As a General Partner of VantagePoint Venture Partners, Mr. Ocko built the firm’s semiconductor and several other practices and helped raise over $2 billion for two VantagePoint funds. He was also responsible for creating VantagePoint’s integrated IT and deal management platform. Prior to VantagePoint, Mr. Ocko was a founding General Partner of SOFTBANK Technology Ventures, where he was one of three partners who raised the original $320 million fund and led a number of its successful investments. Prior to STV, Mr. Ocko ran the Silicon Valley operations of Helix Investments while a Partner there. Mr. Ocko has invested in and/or served on the boards of a number of successful companies including OpenText Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX), DataMirror (NASDAQ: DMCX), SupportSoft (NASDAQ: SPRT), CriticalPath (NASDAQ: CPTH), VxTreme (acquired by Microsoft, NASDAQ: MSFT), Prio (acquired by InfoSpace, NASDAQ: INSP), Planet U (acquired by Transora), Zip2 (acquired by Compaq, NYSE: HPQ), Verisign (NASDAQ: VRSN), Alantro (acquired by Texas Instruments, NYSE: TXN), nDSP (acquired by Pixelworks, NASDAQ: PXLW), UltraDNS (acquired by NeuStar, NYSE: NSR), and 3Ware (acquired by AMCC, NASDAQ: AMCC). Earlier in his career, Mr. Ocko founded and helped drive Da Vinci Systems Corporation to a top three PC e-mail vendor worldwide by 1990, and he also was instrumental in building Oracle Corporation’s Media Sever Division. More recently, Mr. Ocko was the co-founder and CTO of Teneros, where he led the development of the company’s technology and raised over $45 million in financing with his co-founder from firms including NEA and Goldman Sachs. Mr. Ocko also has been an advisor to and/or seed investor in a number of successful venture-backed startups, including ones acquired by Cisco and EMC, and he has served for over a decade as an advisor to the Peoples’ Republic of China on venture capital and technology issues. Mr. Ocko has a degree in Physics from Yale University. |
