Matt Bargar Born in Northampton MA, Matt Bargar was bundled up as a wee tot and transported to Ithaca, NY where he was raised on good city air with his younger twin sisters. A student at a Coalition of Essential Schools charter high school, Matt got bitten by the media bug when drafted to help create an Indiana Jones-style boulder for a friend's video (email him to learn how NOT to do this... hint: papier-mâché is harder than it looks!) Matt packed his trunk and went to Hampshire College in Amherst, MA for film and multimedia; his claim to fame is the video documentary titled "Boy Gets Haircut" (subject matter directly reflective of the title). Upon graduation, he jumped right in as a Developer at JuniorNet in Boston. Matt's most notable projects were 'Weekly Reader,' an instant messenger program for kids, and a 'Reading Rainbow' game to name a few. As learning happens all the time, Matt expanded his bag of tricks, working as a freelance developer on training simulations and more complicated Web sites. Matt also worked at Cognistar where he tapped into his media background, shooting video projects as well as continuing to develop interactives. He went on to a stint at Children's Progress, where he tested kids with simple simulations for Web-based activities in language arts and math. Matt also was both freelance and staff at Six Red Marbles, spending time creating science simulations, teacher tools, and lesson planners. Motivation does funny things to people, and Matt found his North Star pointing at FableVision, where he is busy creating quality children's media and experiences for K-12 in all the places we learn (home, museum, school). Matt lives in lovely Somerville, and if you look long enough, you might find him with his Canon Rebel practicing his favorite craft. |
