Dr. Cuaycong graduated in the top of her biomedical engineering class from Johns Hopkins University. She received her medical degree from Rutgers University, and completed both an Internal Medicine and Ophthalmology residency at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Cuaycong is double-Boarded by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Cuaycong has received numerous honors and awards including election into the Tau Beta Pi Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
An experienced refractive surgeon who has practiced ophthalmology for more than 15 years, she has performed thousands of procedures. She is experienced and certified on all of the major refractive surgery laser platforms including Intralase, the Bausch and Lomb Technolas, Nidek, Alcon LadarVision, VISX.
Dr. Mary Jean Cuaycong has always remained at the forefront of her field. She was one of the clinical investigators for the first FDA-approved excimer laser in the U.S. She has lectured and trained local surgeons in refractive surgery in Asia and Africa; she has made several presentations at national ophthalmic conferences, and has written book chapters and numerous articles published in peer-reviewed journals. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. |
