Mary Ann Hovis has 25 years experience in sales and marketing to the Federal Government. During this time, she represented equipment and service providers as well as system integrators in both the information systems and telecommunications fields.
Since her association with Suss Consulting in 1994, Ms. Hovis has been a strategic advisor to clients on major IT and Telecommunications proposals, with sales and marketing opportunity identification and capture, and market studies and evaluation. She has also worked directly with government agency clients on IT studies.
Prior to joining Suss Consulting, Ms. Hovis directed the marketing efforts of Network Information Systems (NIS) at GTE Federal Systems, a division of GTE Government Systems Corporation. Appointed to this position in July 1991 at the merger of GTE Government Systems with Contel Federal Systems where she was the Director of Civil Government Sales, Ms. Hovis' responsibilities included management of business development and marketing activities for current programs, as well as new business.
Major programs in NIS included all telecommunications support associated with various communications and weather systems with the FAA including the Direct Users Access Terminal System (DUATS), Voice Telecommunications System (VTS), Leased A&B Service (LABS), Full Duplex Interim Communications Network (FDICN), Data Link Processor (DLP) program, the NOAA Weather Wire and Wind Profiler programs, the U.S. Army's Reserve Component Automation System (RCAS), NASA's Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) system, two of the GSA Aggregated Switch Procurements (ASP), the Air Force CONUS Meteorological Data System (COMEDS), Defense Medical Support Systems Center (DSMSSC) communications, and the IRS Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) system.
Prior to joining GTE in 1989, Ms. Hovis was Southeast Regional Manager and Federal Business Unit Manager for Pyramid Technology, a manufacturer of multiprocessor Unix-based RISC supermini-computers; was with Northern Telecom for eleven years in various positions of increasing responsibility - the last of which was Director of Sales for the Federal Systems Division; and the NCR Corporation as a System Engineer and Sales Representative.
