Martin Harris is a partner on the Labor and Employment Team in the firm’s HR Law Practice Group. Marty, who joined the firm from Connelly Sheehan Harris LLP, is an experienced employment litigator, with an impressive record of winning not only literally dozens of summary judgment motions but also several trials and more than 20 appeals.
Marty represents companies in many types of industries, from manufacturing to insurance. He has particular skill in handling high-stakes employment litigation, including class actions. For example, Marty recently represented a food manufacturer in a dozen individual lawsuits following a reduction in force. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commissioned threatened to have the suits consolidated, claiming more older salespersons than younger were let go from the company. Marty won six of the cases on summary judgment, and the rest were settled for a fraction of the original demand. He also recently represented an insurance company in a putative class action, defeating class certification efforts by arguing that common factual issues did not predominate.
In General. Marty earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan. He was second in his graduating class, won moot court and named to Order of the Coif. He received his bachelor’s degree in political philosophy and public policy from Princeton University. |
