Martin Denison Profile :
Sr. Engineer - Reaction Engineering International

Martin Denison Biography :

Dr. Denison has over 10 years experience in modeling combustion systems as a postdoctoral researcher and research engineer. He has developed flow and combustion computer models for Brigham Young University's Advanced Combustion Research Center (ACERC), The Babcock and Wilcox Research and Development Division, and for Reaction Engineering International. He has experience modeling pulverized coal boilers, coal and wood stokers, and black liquor recovery boilers. Education Ph.D., Mechanical Engineering, Brigham Young University, 1994 M.S., Mechanical Engineering, University of Utah, 1986 B.S., Mechanical Engineering, University of Utah, 1985 Experience Senior Research Engineer, Reaction Engineering International, Salt Lake City, Utah (1999 - Present) Development of computer software to simulate combustion and heat transfer for industrial applications. Research Engineer, The Babcock and Wilcox, Research and Development Division, (1995 - 1999) Development of combustion computer codes; finite rate kinetics modeling; combustion modeling of pulverized coal, coke oven, and kraft process recovery boilers. Project leader of process recovery boiler modeling projects to evaluate air system and black liquor delivery system design modifications. Applied detailed chemical kinetics to predict synthesis gas yield of a partial oxidation reactor in a solid oxide fuel cell electric generator system. Integrated radiation submodel with customer's software. Implemented soot models including detailed kinetics for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon formation. Post Doctoral Fellow and Research Associate, The Advanced Combustion Engineering Research Laboratory, Brigham Young University, 1994-1995 Responsible for development of unstructured version of gas/coal combustion code, 3-d radiation code development, incorporation of gas radiation sub-model of dissertation into comprehensive code. Instructor, Mechanical Engineering Department, Brigham Young University, 1993 Taught under-graduate heat transfer course during pursuit of Ph.D. Member of Technical Staff, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, 1986-1990 Developed temperature design and thermal vacuum test requirements for flight hardware. Developed mathematical models for definition of flight thermal environments. Performed part level thermal analyses in support of reliability analyses. Supported Problem/Failure report closure.
