Marty Nastasia is a Government Relations Specialist in Brown Rudnick's Boston office. He brings extensive and diverse experience in analyzing policy issues and developing political strategies. Mr. Nastasia has acquired significant knowledge and in-depth understanding of municipal and state governmental operations through his years at the Massachusetts State House and Boston City Hall. His broad political background enables him to provide comprehensive government representation, a thorough understanding of the legislative process, and effective public policy communication strategies.
Before joining Brown Rudnick, Mr. Nastasia was the Director of Legislative and Government Affairs at KMC Strategies Group, a Boston-based government consulting firm. Prior to that, he served as the Associate Director for State Relations in the Office of Mayor Thomas M. Menino. In this capacity, he worked on developing and organizing the City of Boston 's legislative package, researching the state budget and monitoring various public policy proposals and preparing the City's position on these matters. Mr. Nastasia advocated on behalf of the Mayor for Boston's legislative and budget priorities with members of the State Legislature, interest groups, and business associations.
On Beacon Hill, Mr. Nastasia served as an aide to both Senate Majority Leader Frederick E. Berry and Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, Therese Murray. As Legislative Director and Deputy Chief of Staff for Senator Frederick E. Berry, Mr. Nastasia formulated comprehensive strategies for implementing the Senator's legislative priorities. He was also the Senator's primary fiscal policy advisor during Senate budget deliberations and Conference Committee negotiations, where he developed invaluable insight and knowledge into the practices and principles of state fiscal affairs.
During his tenure as Senior Policy Advisor of the Massachusetts Senate Committee on Ways and Means, Mr. Nastasia managed a broad portfolio of fiscal policy initiatives including the Municipal Relief Package and Economic Stimulus Plan. In this position, he was also responsible for the coordination of the communications strategy for the Ways and Means Committee in support of the Senate's objectives. |
