Martin Lax, CPA, MBA, is a Partner at Goldstein Golub Kessler LLP. Mr. Lax advises clients on financial management and tax matters. His clients consist principally of a variety of investment partnerships and also include both public and privately held companies in other industries, including real estate, advertising, insurance brokerage and not-for-profit. Mr. Lax has an extensive background in audit, tax and business systems related to private investment partnerships. Using this expertise, he advises clients on the tax and accounting aspects of a variety of structured and other transactions and assists them in structuring their limited partnership agreements and advising them on the accounting and tax issues that may effect them. Mr. Lax is also knowledgeable of the regulations surrounding the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. Mr. Lax has developed the in-house training programs of the firm related to investment partnerships, and has developed systems and instituted procedures to ensure the prompt release of tax and accounting information to the individual investors of investment partnerships. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and has served as a member of the Institute's Investment Companies Committee. He is also a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and has served on various committees, including Financial Planning and Control, SEC Practice Assistance and Auditing Standards and Procedures. Mr. Lax received an M.B.A. from Long Island University and a B.S. from Brooklyn College.
