Martijn has a degree in International Marketing & Management from Hanze Polytechnic University in Groningen, The Netherlands and Northern Arizona University. After having interned at Mathews & Clark Communications for 6 months, the company brought him on full-time to setup its Munich, Germany operations together with Walter Mathews, founder of Silicon Valley’s first PR agency for the semiconductor industry. After a year in Munich, Martijn moved back to Silicon Valley to become an account executive supporting the PR teams for Allied Signal, Tower Semiconductor and SEMI. During his 9-year tenure with Mathews and Clark, which later became Positio Public Relations, Martijn progressed to a vice president and general manager position running the agency’s day-to-day operations and overseeing client services. Throughout his career, Martijn has always kept a hands-on approach staying involved on all aspects of the PR discipline and client services. In 2005, decided to trade Silicon Valley for the valley of the sun (Phoenix, AZ) to create his own PR agency with the goal of bringing back some of the basic, but very important and fundamental aspects of public relations and marketing communications: mainly relationships and impressions. Martijn quickly grew the agency’s client base and in July 2006 agreed to merge operations with San Francisco based PR agency Elev8 Public Relations in order to combine resources to allow for continued growth. |
