Current responsibility
Marlese is an editor for the Milliman CareGuidelines in the San Diego office of Milliman. She joined the firm in 1990 and was elected principal in 1996.
Experience
Marlese has been involved in healthcare since 1970, both in clinical care and in medical management. She was responsible for developing and implementing an integrated patient care management program for a large tertiary care teaching hospital. This program focused on utilization, data analysis, discharge planning, quality improvement, and outcomes measurements. She served on the Professional Review Committee for the Hospital Council of Southern California.
Prior to joining Milliman, Marlese worked for large insurance carriers and government contractors developing HMO and PPO products. From 1990 until 2003, Marlese maintained a practice specializing as a Milliman heath care management consultant to carriers, third-party administrators, medical groups, and hospitals. She has extensive experience designing and implementing care management programs tailored to the specific needs of a healthcare system.
Marlese has been involved with the development of Milliman's Healthcare Management GuidelinesTM since 1990. She is also a co-editor of the American Hospital Association's Managing Risk: A Leader's Guide to Creating a Successful Managed Care Organization, 1998. Marlese currently serves as an editor for the Milliman CareGuidelines' Case Management, Home Care, and Recovery Facility Care publications.
