culture flash:
When I think about the Buckle's culture, the words that come to mind are fun, educational, interactive, family oriented, and close-knit. Here, you are given every opportunity to grow your skills and are supported by a management team that truly cares about your success.
skill builder:
Without a doubt, the biggest skill I've enhanced is my ability to sell. Before arriving at the Buckle, I thought I was a good salesperson, but in reality, I hadn't even scratched the surface. By building relationships with customers and learning to communicate well in any situation, I have become a much stronger salesperson. As a manager, I've also developed leadership skills that I put to use daily. My biggest thrill comes from seeing teenagers I hired achieve great things later in life. Knowing that I helped contribute to their success is extremely gratifying.
motivation:
If I had to give you one reason why I work at the Buckle, it would be the same answer every time. It's the people. Over the years, I've had plenty of opportunities to go work for other companies, but I couldn't imagine leaving the Buckle and the great people who work here.
background:
While attending college, I embarked upon a career in retail sales; first working at a western wear store, and later at a shoe store, where I became co-manager. Through those experiences, I discovered that I enjoyed selling and found that I was actually pretty good at it! When a couple of my customers convinced me to come work at the Buckle (where they worked), I jumped at the chance. I joined as a full-time sales teammate in the Lincoln, Nebraska store and was promoted to assistant store manager. I then relocated to Sioux City, Iowa to become a store manager and area leader. In 1996, I opened the Buckle's Mall of America Store where I worked as an area manager. I recently re-located to Arizona to help expand the Buckle's business in that region. |
