Mark Shayne is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) of the American Society of Appraisers and Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mark is a Managing Director with Empire Valuation Consultants, LLC. Mark has 20 years of experience providing financial consulting, valuation, due diligence, and expert witness testimony on valuation matters. His areas of expertise include valuation of common and preferred stock, employee and incentive stock options, partnership interests, intangible assets and intellectual property. Mark has extensive experience with the valuation of business assets and interests for purposes of SEC reporting (including the allocation of purchase price among acquired intangible assets), acquisition, sale, shareholder and partnership litigation, equitable distribution, lost profits, estate and gift tax, buy/sell agreements and ESOPs. He works with many internationally recognized companies including firms in media, telecommunications, high technology and Internet-related businesses. Mark has previously worked for Chase Manhattan Bank, Equitable Capital Management and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mark has testified as an expert witness in Federal and State Courts and before the American Arbitration Association. He has lectured on business valuation, the valuation of intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, and SFAS 141 and 142 in front of technology, accounting, appraisal and legal organizations. Mark is a Professor of Finance (Business Valuation) at Fordham University's Graduate School of Business. He has also published several articles on valuation-related issues. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree (cum laude) from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and earned an MBA with distinction from the Stern Graduate School of Business at New York University. He is also a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA), the CFA Institute, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Wharton Club of NY. He is a past President of the New York City Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers and is past chair of the Investing in Israel High Technology conference sponsored by the New York Society of Security Analysts. |
