Dr. Shahriary spent 14 years at Hughes Space and Communications and rose through the ranks to become Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. His first position at Hughes was Manager of New Technology responsible for all gallium arsenide circuits and advanced microwave receivers. His progress at Hughes led to his creation of a new Communications Division responsible for design, manufacturing and integration of payloads for all commercial satellites. While at Hughes, he also led a 200 person, three-company consortium (Boeing, Teledesic, and Hughes) for the Teledesic venture and later accepted the Presidency at Teledesic. Mark obtained a PhD in Applied Physics from UCLA and holds several patents. Mark has over 30 years of space hardware engineering, manufacturing and corporate management experience. |
