Mark Scarsi is a partner in the Intellectual Property & Technology Department of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP's Los Angeles, California office. Mr. Scarsi is an accomplished litigator with a strong background in computer software and related technology. Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Scarsi worked for seven years as a software engineer, designing and developing detection and signal processing computer systems for the United States Navy. Most recently, Mr. Scarsi has developed broad expertise in the intersection of law and technology.

Representing patent holders in infringement actions relating to a variety of technologies ranging from computer software to airline cargo systems.
Defending companies in patent infringement actions relating to a variety of computer related technologies including field programmable gate arrays, power supplies and stackable memory devices.
Representing the complainant in a Section 337 investigation before the U.S. International Trade Commission involving several patents relating to interactive program guides used in cable television set-top boxes.
Defending a major computer manufacturer in an antitrust case relating to its "clone" program.
Representing the prevailing party in a 35 U.S.C Section 146 interference appeal before a United States District Court.
Defending software development organizations in contract actions relating to enterprise software systems.
Mr. Scarsi also counsels clients on software licensing and patent related matters. In 2008 he was honored as one of IP Law & Business' "Top 50 Under 45."
Mr. Scarsi is a graduate of Syracuse University where he received a B.S in Computer Science in 1987 and a M.S. in Computer Science in 1993. He received his law degree, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Georgetown University in 1996. Mr. Scarsi is admitted to practice in California, New York and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. |
