Mark was born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX. It was Hurricane Celia's trashing of his hometown in 1970 that really got him interested in "the weather".
After completing high school, he went to Texas A&M University at College Station to study Meteorology. He received his B.S. Degree in Meteorology from TAMU in 1980. Mark continued his studies in Meteorology at the graduate level at TAMU while beginning his career in television at KBTX-TV in Bryan, TX in l981. He moved to Louisiana for the first time in 1983 to work as a Meteorologist at KLFY-TV in Lafayette. Mark moved back to Texas in 1987 to start the weather department at KETK-TV in Tyler.
During some of his "limited" spare time, he earned a Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1994. Mark joined the KTBS Storm Team in early 1998.
He's been married to the same wonderfully patient woman, Carrie, since 1981. They have two lovely daughters: Jill and Kristen.
When not keeping up with the ever-changing weather, Mark enjoys working in the yard and repairing "stuff".
Mark quotes, "It really is a pleasure to get to work with all of the weather tools and all of the true professionals here at KTBS."
