Mark A. Ricca has been Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the Company and its primary subsidiary, New York Community Bank, since January 1, 2003, and of New York Commercial Bank since its establishment on December 30, 2005. He was named Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer on January 1, 2005. Previously, Mr. Ricca served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary (from January 1, 2003 to October 31, 2003) and as Senior Vice President, Administration, and General Counsel (from December 1, 2000 through December 31, 2002). In addition, Mr. Ricca is an administrative trustee of Haven Capital Trust I and II.
Previously, Mr. Ricca served with Haven Bancorp, Inc., and its principal subsidiary, CFS Bank, as Senior Vice President, Residential and Consumer Lending and Corporate Secretary from December 1999; Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer from March 1999; and Senior Vice President and General Counsel from April 1998, and was an officer of some of the Company’s other subsidiaries.
Before joining Haven Bancorp, Mr. Ricca was a partner in the law firm of Ricca & Donnelly from January 1992 through April 1998. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ricca worked for General Electric Company, holding various positions in finance, auditing, management and financial sales at GE’s Lighting Business Group, Corporate Audit Department, Medical Systems Business Group, and GE Capital Corporation.
Mr. Ricca is Chairman of the Insurance Committee of the Community Bankers Association of New York State, serves on the Board of Directors of the Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home, Inc., and is a member of the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Holy Cross High School. Mr. Ricca is also involved with various charitable organizations, including Telecare, the Arthritis Foundation, and the Thomas Hartman Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Inc. A former director of the Queens County Real Estate Board, Mr. Ricca has been a national lecturer for West Publishing Company and a guest lecturer at St. John’s University School of Law.
Mr. Ricca holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Notre Dame, a juris doctorate, cum laude, Law Review from St. Johns University, School of law, and an LL.M. from New York University, School of Law. Mr. Ricca also studied for one year at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. Mr. Ricca is also an honors graduate and Chairman's award recipient from the National School of Banking. |
