Mr. Pacala has 25 years of general management and venture capital experience in services, technology and healthcare companies. He began his career as a banker in 1977 at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Corp. and transitioned to strategic planning in healthcare at Booz, Allen and Hamilton. He served as Director of Corporate Planning and Vice President of Operations at Marriott Corporation from 1984 to 1989, where he founded the Fairfield Inns division. From 1989 to 1994, Mr. Pacala was a Senior Vice President and General Manager at Walt Disney Company, where he founded the Disney Vacation Club. He then served as the CEO of Forum Group, Inc., a public, $200-million-revenue senior housing and healthcare company, which later was sold to Marriott. In 1997, Mr. Pacala was recruited by Essex Woodlands to serve as the CEO of American WholeHealth, an integrative health network company which combines conventional medicine, alternative medicine, nutrition and wellness. He joined Essex Woodlands full-time in 2002 and manages investments in and/or sits on the Board of Directors of BENU, CareGuide (formerly Coordinated Care Solutions,) KeyHealth, Touchstone Health, and SleepMed. Mr. Pacala holds a Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College, where he graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, where he graduated with distinction. |
