Mark P. Mays is Chief Executive Officer of Clear Channel Communications, Inc., a global media and entertainment company with leadership positions in radio, television and outdoor advertising. He sets strategic direction and strategy for the company’s gone from home entertainment and information services for local communities, and premiere opportunities for advertisers. Mark oversees operations including more than 30,000 employees in over 65 countries.
Prior to becoming President and CEO in October 2004, Mark served in various roles at the company, including Vice President and Treasurer, Senior Vice President of Operations and later President and COO. Prior to joining Clear Channel, Mark worked for Eppler, Guerin & Turner, an investment-banking firm, and for CapCities, a broadcast company now a part of ABC/Disney.
Mark is currently a Director of the National Association of Broadcaster’s Radio Board, a founding member of the HD Digital Radio Alliance, and remains involved with numerous other industry associations. He has been named one of Radio Ink’s Most Powerful People in Radio for the past four years.
Mark holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University and B.A. in Economics and Math from Vanderbilt University.
Mark’s civic leadership includes board positions with Junior Achievement’s San Antonio Chapter, the Boy Scouts of America, the United Way of San Antonio, and the Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research. In addition, the world-renowned cancer research and treatment center, City of Hope, selected Mark as its 2005 Spirit of Life® Honoree. He also has a leadership role with the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and is involved with the Mays Family Foundation, which also supports a broad range of community organizations and causes. |
